Expansion of Biotechnology
Biotechnology is changing every aspect of our lives in many positive ways. Through funding and research between academia and industry, biosciences have transformed our ability to deliver new medicines, increased our food production, created new renewable energy sources from plants, and expanded research capabilities through computer technology.

In South Dakota, our potential to become a leader in biotechnology is clear. Our number one industry is agriculture. With a biotechnology focus, we can create new companies and jobs by harnessing the vast resources of our great plains.

Throughout the U.S., agriculture biotechnology has generated over 22,000 jobs and over $2.4 billion in revenues, including the contributions of companies supplying inputs to the industry or goods and services to employees.

Benefits of Membership
The purposes of the organization are to promote biotechnology within the State of South Dakota through economic development and developing the industry with start up companies with the state as well as positioning the state for companies to move in. The association will also be actively involved in educating South Dakotans about biotechnology, its purposes and products. The association will promote networking opportunities between interested parties within the state and will also help companies to find resources to continue to build and grow biotechnology.
